STUDENT PRAYER REQUESTS August 25, 2018

Greetings,

It will go down as less than a great week.

At Dixon with the 2nd day of the New Life Correction's 'Transforming Incarcerated Dads seminar conflicting with  SOCPM classes. Class attendance was about half the average for Discipleship and about a fourth for Malachi Dads. I knew of the conflict weeks ago but encouraged the SOCPM students to go where they believed God wanted them to be. It wasn't about not disappointing me. I'm in Dixon 40+ days during the year, NLC is at Dixon only four days out of the year. The upside is I got to have lunch and have fellowship with the NLC volunteers who I've not seen for a while.

At  Sheridan, the Major informed me upon my 8 AM arrive, that because of low staff half the units were on lockdown, including unit 26, that houses the largest number of SOCPM students amongst all the units, but he was hoping to have staff in place in time for the afternoon and evening Discipleship classes. There were only twenty students total for both classes. The 10 o'clock class only had five. It felt more like a small group without the eats. The upside, at least the facility wasn't on full lockdown and things should be back to normal for the Discipleship classes.

Not! About 10 minutes before the start of the 1:30 class a power failure put the facility on backup power putting the facility on full lockdown.  The Major said he was told power was scheduled to be restored around 4 PM but no guarantees. It was my call if I wanted to stay, which I chose to do. The upside I was able to finish my biography on St. Augustine of Hippo.

The last hopes of salvaging the day ended a little after 3 PM when the backup power went down. The Major said it was going to be down until about 11 PM and any hope of there being a 5 PM class were nil. The upside I was home early and was able to spend some time with my lovely bride.

I can look upon Friday as a day of frustration but the upside my day was not nearly as frustrating as the Major, the rest of the Sheridan staff and my students who were sitting in a locked dark cell.

To Him be the glory!

Akil - I ask God's name to heal me in all aspects of my life. Also, I asked for help in repairing my marriage not only to my wife Melissa but also to Jesus Christ. I ask for protection of my family and the people who are near and dear to me. I pray for the blessings of monetary help so I can look out for myself and others who are in need. I humbly ask for forgiveness. I know that I am a sinner, I want to be less of a center, and I can only do that with your help Jesus. In Jesus name, I asked for forgiveness from my mother who's no longer alive so that I will be able to forgive myself and others. After all these things in Jesus name. Amen.

William - My request today is for strength to carry on. I also will like got like God to continue to work in my life and to keep his hands over me and my family and friends.
